We all have days that we need a little extra boost of energy to GET THINGS DONE during the day. There are so many different ways to get motivated; you just need to find the right one for you, that will inspire you; get you to a place that you’ll be inspired and feel like you can take on the world in a day. So let’s get inspired together with different ways to get and keep motivated today!
10 ‘Smart’ Easy Ways To Get Yourself Motivated Today!
- Exercise – Start your day by stretching, going for a walk or run, or doing some weight training. By starting your day in this healthy way, you’ve got a jump start in positivity and feeling good for the rest of the day.
- Read Something Positive – Get inspired by reading the word of others. Read an inspiring blog, magazine article or chapter of a book today.
- Talk to Your Mentor – Reach out to that person in your life that always pumps you up, gets you inspired,
motivated and challenges you to go for it in life. That person will make your day.
- Pay it Forward to Someone Else – Sometimes there is no better feeling than making someone else’s day to get you inspired in your own life. Do something really nice for someone today.
- Write Down What You Are Grateful For – Write down all the things that you DO have in life, and take a moment to feel that appreciation for the great people in your life.
- Break Up Your Routine – Make Things Fun – Just changing up your routine or environment, might just be the spark you need to get back refocused and inspired to get things done during the day.
- Put Yourself On a Timeline – Positively challenge yourself to get things done by a certain time of the day. It helps for accountability; putting a little positive stress on you to get it done during the day.
- Write Down Your Goals – By putting down on paper or on a list on your computer what you want to accomplish, you are more likely to be focused and task oriented to want to get it done during the day. There’s also a great feeling of crossing things off your list once you get them done and move on with your day.
- Journal What You Have Accomplished – Journals are great for so many purposes, but I have found that when you look back at where you’ve been and where you are now, you appreciate all the experiences you’ve been through and how strong you really are. Sometimes looking back and appreciating what you’ve gone through will give you that extra boost of energy to move onward and forward.
- Reward Yourself Along the Way – What fun is it in life if it’s all work and no play? We all like to be rewarded for our work and good deeds. Be sure to be really good to yourself and reward yourself along the way in your days. You work hard, so you deserve to have enjoyment in each and every day.
We all have lots to do in life and it’s time to get things done today. YOU CAN DO IT and make things happen today!

After reading your blog I wrote out two goals got the week and the things I needed to do this wk. to accomplish them. I also planned my to do list for the wk so I could spread out the things I need to do. I have also tried getting back into exercising in the morn and yes it does make me more motivated and inspired 🙂
Excellent Colleen! You’ve got this! Keep me updated on how you are doing in moving WAY forward on your goals!
Love this! Love the pay it forward and and break up your routine. Working from home I find I need a change of scenery sometimes. Now to finish my coffee and get my week started! 🙂
Great blog Cynthia! Pay it forward is one of my favorite tips, helping others is so rewarding. I journal, but I’m now going to make sure to keep track of my accomplishments. Fabulous tips to motivate yourself everyday!
All great stuff Cindy. I especially love to “pay it forward.” Nothing more satisfying to me that to make someone else happy. I am not a taker, but definitely a giver!
#4 and #5 are two of my favorites. When I am discouraged, encouraging others seems to always turn my day around. Lately taking “stock” of what I have already going well, people I am grateful to have in my life, and how far I have come are all ways I am able to push further despite struggles or obstacles.
I’m going to put myself on a time limit and see if that can help me be more productive at work. Some days it seems like I get so bogged down with paperwork or emails I have to put off the important items. Making it a “race” against myself might power me through.
Thanks for the great list Cynthia!
Tracy, putting myself on time limits really has pumped up my productivity greatly! Sometimes I actually have an alarm set. It keeps me on track and positively pushes me to get things done. Let me know how that goes! 🙂
Once again Cynthia, you have hit on all cylinders with your 10 “Smart” Easy Ways To Get yourself Motivated!! I like all the points you have listed, but am a big fan of #4 and #10 which when practiced really provides the some overall “balance” in terms of helping others and rewarding yourself for accomplishing the goals.
Thank you for sharing my friend!
Dale
Thank you so much Dale for your comments! Definitely paying it forward is one of the best ways to pump ourselves up while making a difference in the lives of others. And of course we must reward ourselves for the WINS that we have. I appreciate your wisdom Dale!
Hey Cynthia, love all motivational suggestions. Just excellent! I always start my day with Gratitude followed bt reading something positive. And during the day if I can be helpful/payitforward in some way, its an overall Good feeling.
Thanks for sharing 🙂
Hi Stephanie! I am so glad you loved this list! I wish you an excellent day and thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Hi Cynthia! Thank you for sharing all these wonderful suggestions. Gratitude always puts me in a positive state of mind and putting myself on a timeline gives me the push I need to get things done. Paying it forward, making someone’s day: priceless!!! 🙂
Giovanni, gratitude is definitely the best way to start off and end each day. It also puts me in such an awesome state of mind! And yes…we’ve got to put ourselves on a timeline, to keep us positively challenged to get things done!
Cynthia!!! I absolutely loved it, Friend!!! A truly inspiring blog with some great advice about staying motivated & accountable!!! I loved the “Pay It Forward” suggestion! Nothing gets me more pumped in the morning then when I do something kind for someone else!!! :)) I loved your suggestion about goal setting & time management too, these are two areas in which I’m committing myself to growing in!! Love you Cyn ~ Thx for sharing your MAGIC with us!!! :))
Carla! Thank you SO much for your comments here. You are always SO super inspiring to me. You sparkle and shine my friend! It is absolutely awesome when we pay it forward to someone else. I love to see the reaction when I do it for them! I would love your suggestions sometime on little ways that you pay it forward to others! I appreciate YOU my friend!
Loved the post, Cynthia and especially loved the idea of breaking up your routine and making things fun!
I am always more productive when I have balance in my life because it provides me with the energy to tackle the more difficult tasks. I find connecting with the people who put a smile on my face empower me to be more creative and high performing.
Thanks!
Terri, I am very much like you, that I am SO much more productive when I am balanced, especially getting enough rest and exercising regularly! And thank you for your feedback that you liked the point of breaking up your routine to make things fun. I would love to hear how you move forward with that point! Thanks so much for your feedback!
As always Cynthia’s blog is spot on she really does know.
Prioritized days make more sense than those with no structure.
Important tasks should come first and setting yourself daily goals will help achieve what you aim for.
Even if it doesn’t all work out you’ll know where you are for the next time or the next day.
Good luck to you all and Happy Planning!!
Aubrey, it is so true that a prioritized day with structure, will more likely motivate you to get things done, versus just winging it! I appreciate your input and wisdom!
Cynthia – I loved all the tips. I have several goals for this week and one I gave myself a deadline to get it all done sooner rather than later. 🙂
I am going to work in having some fun to mix it up, just not sure how that will work yet.
Great post!
Carol
Carol, thank you so much for your comments! It is so important to put a deadline on our goals, to give us that positive push to get it done! I’ve got an idea for you regarding having some fun to mix it up. Think of a small, positive reward for each task you get done. That will motivate you to get those tasks done! 🙂
The comments here are all great! Geoff Conn hit the spot, along with all your fabulous suggestions. Paying it forward or giving the others may just give you that extra bounce in your step you need to keep you going on any given day. Just today, I overheard a gentleman frustrated with the time it had taken to hear back from our states Medicaid. I have been helping clients sign up for health insurance since November. I got the form I needed for my client in line and took the chance the gentleman wouldn’t be upset I overheard him and offered to help. The lady at the counter was no help to him. After a few questions, I figured out what tiny little mistake he made, instructed him how to correct it and he thanked me beyond words! No sweat for me, I knew the answer… I skipped out the door, felt like I did something helpful to a frustrated citizen and went back to my clients work ~ and later finalized the adoption of my foster son ~ all in a days work!
Great Stuff Cynthia ~ Doing for others fuels my fire! 🙂
Sage! Thank you so much for your comments. I absolutely LOVE how you pay it forward! What you give out, you will definitely receive back. Thanks for being such a great example of paying it forward!
All fantastic suggestions Cynthia! Staying motivated is perhaps the hardest task we can face in our days and anything we can do to stay on track can make a huge difference! When I’m having a particularly difficult day, I find that completing something small and relatively easy can be just the boost I need to tackle the more daunting things. Sometimes getting that little sense of accomplishment is just the ticket to change the whole day around!
Great list that I can see myself picking from at different times. When I first read it I thought it was a to do list for each day and I was feeling exhausted just reading about them, never mind doing them. One of my favourites, especially on days when you feel like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders is the gratitude journal. It’s a great way to reflect and always moves me in a positive direction.
Thanks
Lynn
Thank you SO much Lynn for your comments! I am glad you enjoyed this list and that you will pull from it when you need it! I love having a gratitude journal. It’s so important in helping me keep balanced. When challenges come our way, we can write and look back on it and focus on all the things we appreciate!
Great tips, Cynthia! My favorite mantra that hangs on my kitchen wall as a daily reminder: “Live, Laugh, Love.” Every day is a gift and we must cherish it and make the most of it…. always! xo
